ABOUT
DAVID DOROSZ
Margó Prize–shortlisted
David Dorosz writes with the same sharp curiosity that once defined his work in politics. He is drawn to the quiet mechanics of power — how it shapes relationships, fractures lives, and pushes people toward the choices they’d rather not make. His debut novel, We All Leave, is a propulsive, psychologically driven thriller that tackles difficult truths in an accessible, high-momentum style. The book was shortlisted for the Margó Prize for Best Debut Novel and praised by critics as “the representative novel of his generation.”
Dorosz focuses on stories that engage the reader immediately but linger long after the last page — narratives where pressure, loyalty, secrecy, and the fault lines of class and ambition collide. His second novel, a larger and more ambitious political thriller, will be published in Hungarian in February 2026. He writes with the belief that fiction should entertain but also reveal what we’d rather not see: the hidden structures beneath our choices, our relationships, and the societies we build.
David Dorosz was born in Budapest. He studied law at Eötvös Loránd University and international relations at Corvinus University, later earning an MBA in the United States.
In 2010, he served as campaign manager for the LMP’s national parliamentary campaign, achieving a historic result and making the organization the first-ever green party to clear the electoral threshold. From 2010 to 2014, he was a Member of the Hungarian Parliament. In 2019, he became the campaign manager for Gergely Karácsony’s successful run for Mayor of Budapest, after which he served as Deputy Mayor for Climate and Development until 2021.
For several years, he led a tech company working in international markets, and today he works primarily as a consultant. In 2020, he was selected for the Atlantic Council’s Millennium Leadership Program for emerging global leaders. Beyond the Hungarian press, his writing has appeared in Politico Europe, The New York Times, and Democracy Now.
His nonfiction book Time Pressure (2019) examines today’s most urgent global crises. His Margó Prize–shortlisted debut novel, We All Leave, is a psychological thriller with sharp social commentary. Dorosz lives in Vienna with his wife. When he isn’t writing, he is passionate about photography and travel.
